The Brown Family have farmed at Redcliffe Farm at Lebberston since 1960. Previously, at least the last 7 generations of our family were Farmers & Butchers, (My Father is researching these things, we may even publish results here one day) at various locations in West and North Yorkshire.
The family have always been beef farmers, since our time at Redcliffe we have tended to specialise in 100% Grass Fed charolais , limousin breeds etc..
Over the course of the last 35 years, egg production and sales have become the focus of our business, Brown Eggs is now a separate business in it's own right, packing and marketing Free Range and Intensive Eggs from it's own production and from several other local farms.
Our beef is rated very highly, and qualifies as "extensive beef" (a measure of the outdoor grass feeding policy), over the last few years all of our animals have gone to Dawn Foods at Carnaby, who are exclusive suppliers to Marks & Spencers.
Redcliffe Farm Shop is a new venture and is designed primarily to allow us to maintain the viability of our beef production. Over the last several years profitability in Beef has dwindled, and the recent changes in the subsidy regime mean that a fundamental change was necessary. We have decided to sell our own produce on the farm, creating a shop, cafe and bakery from a newly renovated set of original farm buildings. We intend to offer a full range of food and drink produced at this farm and other farms in the locality.
